The Cloverfield Paradox

***Warning, may contain spoilers, especially if you haven't seen the first 2 Cloverfield films***

Wow! Is my first utterance at this movie! How on earth did Netflix manage to beat the cinema to be the ones to show the next instalment in the utterly thrilling and very Black Mirror like Cloverfield movie series? Incredible that this is now available to more people thanks to Netflix. Part of me is thinking 'is this a trend?' 'Is Netflix going to become the first to show more and more movies in the future?' Anyway, fair play to them I'm very impressed!

The first Cloverfield film was a brilliant video camera style movie about monsters attacking a city. I absolutely loved it, you never really knew why or how they were here, just that life would never be the same again. The beauty of the Cloverfield films is that each one is different actors and actresses, based on the same theme, yes, but with different people and all different stories so it doesn't feel bland.

My favourite Cloverfield movie I must say (and still is) the brilliant 10 Cloverfield Lane starring the usually hilarious but playing a very different role this time, John Goodman who locks people in an underground bunker as the world is falling apart. That movie rarely featured monsters etc, but it was an epic story of the battle for survival in depressing conditions.

Talking about an epic battle for survival, that leads us to the third Cloverfield movie just released on Netflix, The Cloverfield Paradox. Definitely my second favourite movie of the Cloverfield series and whilst it's not going to make my top ten of all time it certainly is a 5 star movie easily.

Here's why: Firstly, you have to watch the first 2 Cloverfield movies to understand it but, if you have you are given so many answers. I can't really talk about it without giving the game away but finally a lot makes sense! There is a huge twist in this film which explains the Cloverfield universe massively but I can't tell you what it is because it would spoil the movie.

It stars some fairly well known but not mega famous actors such as David Oyelowo, Chris O'Dowd and more. Plus it introduces an actress who is clearly the lead role in this movie, Gugu Mbatha-Raw.  She is excellent in her role by the way.

Imagine this scenario- there is an energy crisis, the world is teetering on the brink of war. Countries are starting to fight other countries and a select crew of people have the job to go into space to test and get working a new energy source called 'the Shepherd' that could solve the energy crisis and save the world.

But then of course it all goes wrong and you discover so much more about the Cloverfield universe in the process.

I can't tell you anymore I just can't it would ruin the movie, it's just brilliant it really is! The action, the suspense, the mysteries being resolved, all of it and of course ***spoiler alert*** the generic open ending as this is clearly not the last of the series! I normally hate an open ended movie but not this time, I just want to see more and more from the Cloverfield universe! Bring on part 4 I say!

I think you can see how much I loved and how much I was excited by this movie. All I can say is watch the first 2 movies if you haven't seen them already then watch this one. You won't be dissapointed. As long as you've seen the other 2 movies first so you know what they're on about then 5 stars is awarded and well deserved too. Enjoy.
