The Meg

Normally I would put a warning before one of my reviews that it contains spoilers, but with this movie I really don't need too as it is a shark movie and we all know what happens on shark movies! Big shark comes along, attacks and eats people, humans try and stop the shark and humans win. I guess that's a spoiler but it isn't because shark movies all follow the same format.

Now, by the title of this movie you may think this is a movie about Meg from Family Guy, but no. The shark is called Megalodon hence the name. Scary sounding name hey?

There are two very famous actors in this movie, one of them used to play Dwight in the hit tv series The Office and the other is one of the best English action movie actors around, Jason Statham who exhilarates the pulse because of the awesome stunts he gets up too.

The directing is good as far as it goes as there isn't much to direct, it's simply humans vs shark, except there is a small twist two thirds of the way through the movie.

The sound is dramatic also, and the CGI graphics for the shark are amazing, it looks incredibly realistic I mean, wow.

The action never stops too and it really is a very watchable film. The problem is I always mentally compare any new shark movie to Jaws and I shouldn't because nothing will top the original and best shark movie ever.

There isn't much to say in my review except don't bother watching it in 3D as I did because the 3D almost looks like 2D apart from a few scenes, there is no point seeing it in 3D, but definitely see it. It's exciting and action packed.

It simply is a sit down with popcorn, switch off and enjoy it movie, it doesn't deserve the slating the critics are giving it because it really is fun and I'm glad the Oscar's are introducing a Popular movie category because finally movies that lots of people watch and enjoy will get awarded rather than movies just because the critics like them. If a movie is popular then it must be doing something right! If it was rubbish it wouldn't be popular!

In short, a great switch brain off and enjoy action movie and well worth seeing. Well done all involved. Four stars awarded.
