Murder Mystery
***May contain spoilers***
Regular readers of my blog will know that I have a concern with straight to Netflix movies. I always thought it's basically the movies that weren't good enough to make it to the big screen that got snapped up by Netflix. However that's all changed these days, with the star names in their movies, straight to Netflix just means normal movie that misses the cinema and goes straight to Netflix, nothing more, nothing less.
Murder Mystery is the first film in a long while that either Adam Sandler or Jennifer Aniston has been in, or in this case both of them.
Now straight away having two enormous names like Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in a movie makes you want to watch it. I really couldn't wait to see this film, and that's just from the epic trailer, it looked like an hilarious action comedy, and it really was!
Sandler has been in many brilliant comedies such as Pixels and Just Go With It, which he also starred with Aniston in. He is an incredibly talented and hilarious comedy actor, and he goes back to his comedy best with this movie.
Jennifer Aniston isn't just a superstar Actress, I'd regard her as a megastar she is that famous. Obviously she is a comedy natural from the absolutely brilliant comedy series Friends, but on top of that she has starred in many comedy movies too. However Friends will of course be what she is best known for. Anyway, putting the two together should create comedy gold, and it does in this movie.
The story is that Aniston and Sandlers character have been married for 15 years and have never had a honeymoon. Sandler plays a cop who is trying to become a Detective and Aniston plays a hairdresser. Between the two of them they just about make ends meet.
Sandler has for the last 15 years promised Aniston a European honeymoon and finally he delivers. It all starts on the plane on the way over to Europe where Aniston and Sandler meet a wealthy businessman who invites them to stay on board his Uncles yacht. Look out for the brief appearance by the way of David Walliams. Pretty cool to see him in a movie.
Anyway, the businessmans Uncle is just about to sign a new will leaving all the money to his new partner and, in doing so ejecting all his family out of the will. Just before he signs it the lights go out and when they come back on (spoiler alert), he is dead, someone has stabbed him just before he was going to sign the will.
What follows is brilliant. The French Police get involved and very quickly as they don't belong there, they make Sandler and Aniston the prime suspects for the murder!
Aniston and Sandler have real chemistry and it shows so much in the scenes from once they are prime suspects in the murder to the end of the movie as they realise they have to do their own investigating as they have to find the real killer to avoid going to jail themselves!
There is so much action and comedy, once the pair are 'on the run' you really can't take your eyes off the screen!
This movie for most of it is a very good 4 star movie, it's fun to watch, not taxing just sit back, laugh and enjoy. However there is one scene that earns the entire movie an extra half a star. Towards the end of the movie there is an epic car chase scene involving Aniston driving a Ferrari I think it is and it is simply brilliant. The stunts, the driving, the adrenalin all of it just brilliant. On top of that part of the movie is set during the Monaco Grand Prix so as an F1 fan I'm delighted to see clips of F1 skilfully blended into the movie. Epic!
In conclusion this is a great movie for adults and really older children as well as long as you like action or comedy or both, it's fun it's exciting and just a really great easy to watch movie, not taxing just sit back and enjoy. This is one of the best movies I've seen on Netflix and well earns the 4.5 stars I'm going to give it. Very good movie, Sandler and Aniston together are like comedy gold. Well done all, 4.5 stars deservedly awarded! :-)
